Private Boat Docks: Special Stays at Maple Leaf Lodge

When we first envisioned the perfect lakeside escape, we knew one thing for certain: access to the water had to be effortless, personal, and a part of daily life—not just an activity. That’s why here at Maple Leaf Lodge, every one of our cabins includes its own private boat dock. Whether you’re here to fish, unwind, explore, or all three, having your own dock makes everything simpler, quieter, and more magical. And it’s just one of the many ways we’ve brought comfort and adventure together on the shores of Lake Kipawa.

A Dock That’s Just for You

There’s a certain kind of peace that comes with knowing the dock outside your cabin is yours and yours alone. No need to schedule time, compete for space, or haul gear back and forth. Our docks give you immediate, anytime access to the water—perfect for spontaneous fishing trips, morning canoe paddles, or simply sitting with your feet in the lake, letting the silence speak.

Each dock can moor two boats comfortably, and because every cabin is spaced out with privacy in mind, your time on the dock is as quiet and undisturbed as your time in the cabin. It’s a feature many of our guests say makes the experience feel truly personal—and one that aligns perfectly with the thoughtful balance of nature and comfort we strive for.

Outfitted for Lake Days

For those arriving without a boat, we’ve made it easy to get out on the water without sacrificing quality. We offer reliable, well-maintained 16-foot fiberglass boats equipped with 15 HP 4-stroke Honda motors. These are easy to operate, fuel-efficient, and ideal for both beginners and seasoned boaters. Safety is always a priority, so each rental includes paddles and life jackets—everything you need to set off confidently.

Whether you’re exploring new corners of Lake Kipawa, aiming for the best fishing spots, or just drifting under the sun, our boats are ready when you are. It’s one of those conveniences that doesn’t interrupt the natural feel of the experience but supports it, quietly and seamlessly—much like the way we’ve designed our cabins to feel both rooted in the wild and reliably comfortable.

Designed for Comfort Without Compromising Nature

Serene Location with Breathtaking Lakeview Cabins

Inside our cabins, you’ll find a rustic charm that doesn’t come at the cost of modern convenience. We’ve recently remodeled the interiors, leaning into a warm, natural wood aesthetic while integrating efficient, functional upgrades that make extended stays easy and pleasant.

The cabins are powered by a clean solar system, backed by a quiet generator, ensuring that you’ll always have reliable electricity without disturbing the peaceful environment. Kitchens are outfitted with gas stoves, a full selection of pots, pans, and utensils, and refrigerators run by propane. Each cabin features hot and cold running water, a flush toilet, and a full tub/shower—comforts that are often rare in more remote lakeside getaways.

For those who’ve read about how we combine solitude with warmth in Comfort & Adventure, our cabins are the living proof. They’re spaces built for conversation, for laughter, and for long quiet mornings with coffee on the porch—spaces that stay with you long after the trip ends.

Fishing Made Easy—and Fruitful

Lake Kipawa is a well-known haven for anglers, and it’s easy to see why. With thriving populations of Walleye, Lake Trout, Northern Pike, and Smallmouth Bass, fishing here is more than a pastime—it’s a highlight of the stay for many of our guests.

To help maximize your success, we offer everything you need: bait, a large screened fish cleaning station, and commercial freezers to store your catch. We also provide lake maps complete with GPS coordinates for known fishing hotspots. You don’t need to be an expert—we’re always happy to share tips and talk shop with anyone curious or eager to learn.

Fishing here isn’t just about the fish—it’s about the early mornings when the lake is mirror-still, the laughter when a big one gets away, and the satisfaction of cooking your own catch in your cabin at day’s end. There’s something rewarding about the whole cycle, especially when it starts and ends at your own private dock.

A Sustainable Stay in the Wild

We’re always mindful of the land we’re lucky to live and work on. That’s why we’ve transitioned to solar energy for all our cabins, dramatically reducing our reliance on fuel and ensuring a cleaner, quieter, more environmentally respectful stay.

Our solar systems run lights, water systems, and small appliances with ease, and when backup power is needed, a generator steps in smoothly. This means you can enjoy a full week in the woods without giving up the basic comforts of home—or harming the wild that surrounds you.

The solar power system is just one part of a broader ethos here. We encourage catch-and-release fishing, careful firewood usage, and a general “leave no trace” approach for all guests. The aim isn’t just to preserve the beauty of the area—it’s to live in a way that respects and sustains it.

More Than Just Summer Memories

While the summer season draws many with its warm days and calm waters, our cabins—and the land around them—are built for year-round adventure. Fall brings hunting opportunities for moose and black bear, and winter transforms the landscape into a wonderland perfect for snowmobiling and cross-country skiing. The lodge is close to key trails and outfitter services, making it an excellent base for seasonal outdoor activities.

In spring, wildlife reappears, and the lake comes to life again, with ice-out fishing kicking off the new season. No matter when you visit, the scenery is breathtaking, the air is fresh, and the experiences feel grounded in something real.

There’s a reason we often talk about how comfort meets adventure here—and why we believe it’s worth revisiting that balance in every season, not just during the warmer months.

Where the Water Always Welcomes You

We’ve watched countless guests return to their cabins in the evening, tired but content, boats tied up to the dock, the sky softening with color. Some sit with a drink, others clean their catch, and a few simply lean against the railing, breathing in the stillness. It’s in these quiet, unplanned moments that the lake truly offers its magic.

Your stay here doesn’t revolve around scheduled tours or forced activity. It revolves around you—your pace, your interests, and your connection with nature. And it all begins with that private dock outside your door: an invitation, a launch point, and a landing pad for whatever kind of day you choose to have.

At Maple Leaf Lodge, we’ve built something that lets the wilderness take center stage, while still giving you the tools to enjoy it fully and comfortably. And for those who already know what it feels like to settle into one of our cozy cabins, to tie up a boat after a day on the lake, or to fall asleep to the sound of loons in the distance—you know this isn’t just a stay. It’s a return to something simpler, and something deeply rewarding.
